iZone hub shows 169.254.xx.xx address
If the iZone app has stopped working, the Globe LED on the iZone hub is not lighting up, and the system IP address shows a 169.254.xx.xx address, the hub is not receiving an IP address from the modem/router.
A 169.254.xx.xx address is an automatic private IP address. Devices assign it to themselves when they are connected to a network but cannot reach a DHCP server to obtain a valid address.
Steps to resolve:
-
Identify the network IP structure on your phone:
- Open Settings on your iPhone or Android device.
- Go to Wi-Fi or Network settings.
- Tap the connected network and find the IPv4 address.
- Note whether the address starts with 192.168.x.x or 10.10.x.x.
-
Access your modem settings:
- Open a computer browser.
- Enter your modem's settings address and log in.
-
Configure the iZone hub:
- On iZone NEXUS and NANO, open the Config screen:
- Classic display: Settings > Config > Config Aircon 1
- Modern display: Settings > Config > Config Aircon 1
- Enter the system password wamfud and press Enter.
- Open WiFi Bridge Configuration.
- Classic display: tap Next > Manual
- Modern display: tap the arrow next to the IP address and select Manual
- On iZone NOVA and NOVA MINI, go to Menu > Settings > System > iZone Hub > IP Configuration > Automatic
- On iZone NEXUS and NANO, open the Config screen:
-
Enter the following IP details:
- IP Address: 192.168.X.251
- Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
- Default Gateway: 192.168.X.1
- Primary DNS Server: 192.168.X.1
- Secondary DNS Server: 255.255.255.255
- X is the third number in the IPv4 address you found on your phone.
- Press Apply.
-
Reset the iZone hub:
- Press the reset button on the hub.
- Wait for the LEDs to stabilise.
- The Globe LED should turn on once the hub reconnects.
-
Verify the hub on the modem:
- Refresh the modem's device list.
- The iZone hub should appear in the wired devices section.
