Wireless sensor not pairing or not responding

Follow the steps below if a wireless sensor (CRFSW/CRFS or CRFS2) is not responding, will not pair, or flashes red/blue repeatedly.

Check the Distance

  • Check the distance between the CPU Module (C225) and the sensor. If possible, move the sensor closer and test it again.
  • If the sensor works when moved closer, this indicates a wireless range issue — signal strength or obstructions between the sensor and C225. See the installer options below.

Check the Battery

  • Confirm a working CR2032 battery is installed correctly.
  • CRFS2 only: confirm the battery isolation tab has been removed.

CRFSW / CRFS Sensor

Press the button on the sensor and check the LED:

  • No lights, or only a blue light on install — confirm a working CR2032 battery is installed correctly.
  • Flashes red/blue repeatedly — the sensor is not receiving confirmation from the C225. This usually means the sensor is not paired, is assigned to the wrong zone, or there is a wireless signal problem.
    • Check whether the sensor is paired — see pair for zone control or pair for RF sensor control.
    • Check the DIP switch on the sensor PCB matches the zone it is installed in (or 'R' for RF sensor control).
    • Test the sensor again after pairing.

CRFS2 Sensor

  • Confirm the battery isolation tab has been removed.
  • Confirm a working CR2032 battery is installed.
  • Confirm the sensor is paired and assigned to the correct zone — see pair for zone control or pair for RF sensor control.
  • Re-pair the sensor if needed, then test again.

Still Not Working

  • Reset the wall controller and allow the system to fully restart, then test the sensor again.
  • If the sensor still does not respond after checking signal, pairing, battery and zone assignment, it may be faulty. Contact your installer or iZone Technical Support on 08 6556 6415 and press 3 for Technical Support.

For Installers

If a sensor works when moved closer to the C225, but the required installation location has poor signal, try the following in order:

  • Relocate the sensor — if practical, move it to a different position within the same zone and test again.
  • C225 antenna extension — if the sensor cannot be moved, fit a C225 antenna extension (CANTE5) to bring the antenna closer to, or point it toward, the sensor.
  • Wireless repeater — if the signal remains unreliable, install a Wireless Repeater (CR) between the C225 and the sensor.

Also check for wireless interference — thick concrete walls, metal structures/enclosures, roofing materials, furniture and other building materials can all reduce signal strength. Do not rely on distance alone; always check the actual signal performance at the sensor's installed location.

If the sensor still does not work after checking pairing, battery, zone, signal and antenna, the sensor may be faulty. Contact iZone Technical Support on 08 6556 6415 and press 2 for Technical Support.
