Zones are not responding (Opening/Closing) correctly / Damper fault
For Nexus / Nano / Nite / Nimble (C110) / CCTS Users
Reset the CPU
- For Nexus / Nano users, click the small reset button underneath the controller briefly and let it go. Reset button location as below:
- Mounted Landscape: Bottom-left of the controller.
- Mounted Portrait: Top-right side of the controller.
- For Nite / Nimble (C110) / CCTS, click the blue button underneath the controller in the middle briefly and let it go.
- Once the button has been clicked, tap the screen and wait for the controller to finish loading.
- Once the system is ready, turn it on and test the affected zones for approximately 15 minutes to check whether the fault persists.
- If the fault continues after the reset, contact your installer, as this may indicate a hardware issue with the affected zone.
For Installers
- Power cycle the CPU by either:
- Turning the power OFF and then ON at the isolator switch/circuit breaker, or by pressing the Reset button on the wall controller.
- Test the zones to check if they are responding correctly / if the damper fault has cleared.
- If the fault is still present, follow the troubleshooting steps below.
- Check that the Damper Timing is correct for the damper motor being used, confirm that Reverse Dampers is enabled or disabled according to the system setup, and check whether the affected damper port has been skipped in the system configuration. Follow the steps below to check these settings:
- On Nova / Nova Mini wall controller:
- Tap Menu → Settings → Installer and enter your installer code and tap Submit.
- Now tap Category → Air Conditioning → AC Unit. Tap the Settings gear icon in the top-right corner.
- Scroll down and tap on Advanced Settings.
- Scroll further down and locate Damper Timing and confirm if this is set according to the damper motor's specifications.
- Find Reverse Dampers, enable or disable Reverse Dampers according to the system setup.
- Tap on Skip Zone Ports and check if any zone ports are skipped.
- Make the necessary adjustments, then scroll down to the bottom, tap Reset CPU, then tap Home, turn the system ON and test the zones.
- On Nexus wall controller:
- Tap on Settings → Configuration → Configure Air Conditioner (x).
- Enter the password
wamfudand tap Enter. - Tap on the Options tab, use the Down Arrow to scroll down and find Damper Timing and confirm if this is set according to the damper motor's specifications.
- Find Reverse Dampers, enable or disable Reverse Dampers according to the system setup.
- Tap on Skip Zone Ports and check if any zone ports are skipped.
- Make the necessary adjustments, then Reset CPU using the reset button, turn the system ON and test the zones.
- On Nova / Nova Mini wall controller:
- To identify whether the fault is with the damper motor, cable, or CPU port, perform the following tests:
- To test the Damper Motor:
- Take the motor that is not working.
- Connect it using a working zone cable and a working CPU port.
- If the motor still does not work, the damper motor is faulty.
- If the motor works, the motor is OK. The problem is with the original zone cable or CPU port.
- To test the Zone Cable:
- Check the damper motor cable at both ends. Make sure it is connected correctly, has no visible damage, and the cable polarity matches at both ends.
- To test further, use a known-working motor. Connect it using the zone cable you are testing and a known-working CPU port.
- If the motor does not work, the cable is faulty.
- If the motor works, the cable is OK. The problem is likely the CPU port.
- To test the CPU Port:
- Check the CPU damper ports for any signs of damage.
- Use the known-working motor and known-working cable.
- Connect them to the CPU port that is not working.
- If the motor does not work, the CPU port is faulty.
- If the motor works, the CPU port is OK.
- To test the Damper Motor:
- Important: After changing any motor, cable, or CPU connection, power cycle the CPU if required before testing the damper again.
